PEREZ JNR TO MAKE CIRCUIT RACING DEBUT WITH HILLSPEED THIS WEEKEND

13 Oct 2014

Chesterfield teenager Seb Perez will make the transition from rallying to circuit racing this weekend, 11th/12th October, with leading Kick Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship team Hillspeed during the category’s season finale at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit.

The 14-year-old, son of 2010 BTRDA Rally Champion Steve Perez, currently competes in the Kick Energy Junior 1000 Rally Championship at the wheel of a Nissan Micra but is now set to make his circuit debut in a Ginetta G40 which will be engineered by Hillspeed.

Brands Hatch’s full GP layout, of course, is one of the most challenging tracks in the UK and will certainly provide the young rally driver with a major test for his maiden outing in the fiercely competitive Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship support category.

“We’re very pleased to work with another new driver taking his first steps in Ginetta Junior and really looking forward to helping Seb make the transition from rallying to circuits”, said Richard Ollerenshaw, team principal of the Hathersage squad.

“We have had discussions with Seb and his father Steve prior to them choosing to place their car with us for this weekend at Brands Hatch, they’re based quite local to the Hillspeed workshop and so we’ve been in contact for a little while. It’s obviously going to be something very new for Seb, a big challenge, but he’s clearly got talent and we’re certain he’ll make strong progress.”

Perez Jnr, who attends King’s School in Macclesfield, is fourth in the Junior 1000 Rally Championship and has been a star performer this year in the series which is backed by his father Steve’s Global Brands business.

Officially timed testing for the Kick Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship finale takes place at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit today, with qualifying and round 19 on Saturday, 11th October, and round 20 following on Sunday, 12th October. Perez Jnr will join Hillspeed regular Harry Mailer and relative newcomer Benjamin Wallace.
