Derbyshire team Hillspeed provided British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) rising star, and reigning British GT Championship GT4 Class Champion, Jamie Chadwick with the 17-year-old’s first ever single-seater test at the wheel of a BRDC British Formula 3 car at Snetterton on Friday, 8th April.

Chadwick, who made headlines in British GT last year as the first female title winner in the history of the category, as well as the youngest, undertook a full day of running in one of Hillspeed’s 230bhp British F3 single-seaters and unsurprisingly impressed in both wet and dry conditions.

Managed by Crown Motorsport, the Tetbury teenager is racing again in British GT this year at the wheel of an Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 with Beechdean Motorsport and hasn’t ruled out some additional running in other categories with the possibility of outings in British F3. She is also going to appear for the SuperRacing squad during the opening two British GT events.

“It’s certainly turning into a busier year than I expected – this year I’ve got my A-levels so I had planned to limit my racing over the first half of the season”, said Chadwick, “Other racing is possible and I have also been testing a BRDC F3 car with Hillspeed with guidance from experience single-seater racer Struan Moore. This will help broaden my racing outlook and give me some additional ‘aero’ experience.”

Hillspeed team principal Richard Ollerenshaw added: “For Jamie’s first outing in a single-seater, I have to say we were deeply impressed. We managed a good mix of running conditions, with a damp first session followed by a drying track, giving her a well-rounded test.

“Jamie’s technical feedback and attention to detail made her a pleasure to work with and her lap times improved steadily throughout the day, as she adapted to the car. It’s quite clear she has the qualities to develop as a successful single-seater racer and I think we can assume this won’t be the last time we see Jamie in an F3 car.”
