Abu Dhabi GP3 test with Arden for BRDC F4 champion

12 Mar 2014

The 2014 BRDC F4 champion will receive a test with the Arden Motorsport GP3 team at the official end of season GP3 test at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit.
The Arden GP3 team have produced the last two GP3 champions, Mitch Evans and Daniil Kvyat, with the latter graduating immediately to the Scuderia Toro Rosso F1 team for 2014.
The team have also been classified second in the team standings for the past three seasons, and also feature at the front of the GP2 and Formula Renault 3.5 grids.
Arden Motorsport was founded in 1997 by Christian Horner, who still oversees the team in addition to his Red Bull Racing F1 commitments, while the GP3 series has proved a key proving ground for future F1 stars since its formation in 2010. Inaugural champion Esteban Gutiérrez, 2011 champion Valtteri Bottas and 2010 graduate Jean-Éric Vergne have all since gone on to race in F1, while 2013 champion Kvyat will make his F1 debut this year.
MSV Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer commented: “The class leading low cost and equality of equipment in the BRDC F4 championship is attracting a record number of very talented drivers. The 2014 champion is therefore bound to be an exceptional talent and I’m confident he will quickly adapt to the 450bhp GP3 car. The Abu Dhabi test will be a great opportunity for our winner to showcase his ability and GP3 could well be an option for 2015.”
Julian Rouse, Arden Sporting Director is looking forward to testing the 2014 F4 champion in the Middle East: “With the BRDC F4 championship clearly being the most competitive junior single seater championship in the UK, its 2014 champion is inevitably going to be a great talent. We’re very interested to see how they perform in our Arden GP3 car and the official GP3 Abu Dhabi test will give us the ideal opportunity to do this.”
The 2014 BRDC F4 season starts on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on 26-27 April with 21 spaces on the grid already confirmed, leaving just five seats available in a capacity of 26 cars. Further details of the 2014 F4 prize package will be revealed in due course.
