ARGENTINEAN RACER FALLAS TAKES HILLSPEED'S THIRD SEAT IN BRDC F4
Hillspeed will return to fielding a three car entry in the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Championship as of this coming weekend’s event at Snetterton 300 Circuit, having signed Argentinean racer Hernan Fallas to partner team regulars Al Faisal Al Zubair and Ameya Vaidyanathan.
Fallas set out on his maiden campaign in European racing at the beginning of the year in BRDC F4 where he took a best finish of eighth position during round seven at Silverstone with a rival team. After contesting the first nine races, Fallas stepped away from the championship but is now set for a return this weekend, 22nd/23rd August, where he will race in Hillspeed colours for the first time.
The South American, who will celebrate his 21st birthday tomorrow during the Snetterton test day, takes over the seat which was vacated by podium finisher Sebastian Lanzetti after the Silverstone event in June, when budget restrictions dictated an early end to his campaign.
“It’s fantastic to be back with a capacity three car entry and we’re very much looking forward to working with Hernan for the first time”, said Richard Ollerenshaw, team principal of Hathersage based Hillspeed, “He’s been away from the championship for a couple of events but we’re confident he’ll be back into the swing of things in no time.
“To have already finished in the top eight this season is good going and we’re confident Hillspeed will be able to help Hernan build on that. We’re absolutely delighted to welcome him to the team and hope Snetterton will be a strong start to the partnership.”
Making his car racing debut in 2011 in Formula 4 APAP Argentina, Fallas contested nine races in the category before moving into the Formula Metropolitana and APAP Formula 4 Nueva Generacion championships the following year where he became a podium finisher.
Ending the 2013 Formula Metropolitana campaign 10th overall, with two podiums, Fallas went on to claim his maiden success in the series last season on his way to a competitive sixth overall in the championship, ending the season with a tally of five podiums including two victories.
Looking ahead to his race debut with Derbyshire’s Hillspeed, Fallas said: “I am really happy to be back in BRDC F4 and can’t wait for my first weekend with the guys at Hillspeed. I already had a couple of top 10 finishes this year, with an eighth place at Silverstone, so I hope to be able to build on that and have a strong run at Snetterton.”
Qualifying at Snetterton 300 Circuit will get underway at 10.40 on Saturday, 22nd August, with round 16 following at 14.15. On Sunday, 23rd August, round 17 will start at approximately 10.35 with round 18 – which will be screened live on Motors TV – commencing at 15.05.
