Tatuus Cosworth BRDC F3 - Mon 11th Jan 2016 - HILLSPEED EYEING STRONG 2016 IN NEW AND IMPROVED BRDC F4 - Hillspeed Racing

11 Jan 2016

Derbyshire’s Hillspeed, one of the cornerstone teams in the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Championship, is hard at work preparing for a busy winter testing programme ahead of the 2016 season in the new and improved category – a campaign that the squad expects to be one of its strongest yet in F4.
Having taken delivery of three of the brand new Tatuus-Cosworth BRDC F4 cars prior to the recent Autumn Trophy, the race-winning and title challenging team has been able to get a real head-start in terms of understanding the intricacies of the championship’s latest generation car.
Aiming to build on the experience gathered during the Autumn Trophy, where Jersey driver Struan Moore delivered podium success, the Richard Ollerenshaw-led team is now targeting a major push for honours in 2016…beginning with its upcoming testing schedule at home and abroad.
“We always felt it was very important to run a significantly strong testing and development program ahead of the Autumn Trophy to get as much experience with the new car as possible, it’s a real step forward for the championship and, provides drivers exactly what they require”, said the team boss.
“When the plans for the new car were first discussed, it was always our intention to give the fullest possible backing to the direction Jonathan Palmer, Giles Butterfield and the team at MSV wanted to take the championship. We’re very much looking forward to 2016 and the first full season with the new Tatuus and the hard work is well underway with our preparations for winter testing.”
With the introduction of the latest generation car, BRDC F4 has taken a big leap closer to the sort of performance which makes the championship the perfect feeder category for the prestigious FIA Formula 3 European Championship and also Formula One support series GP3.
Equally, though, the state-of-the-art Tatuus-Cosworth is a car that youngsters 16-years-of-age and older can progress into directly from karting and not be out of their depth when working closely with an experienced professional team such as Hillspeed.
Hillspeed is currently welcoming enquiries from drivers seeking both testing opportunities and race seat positions in the 2016 championship.
